The programme ensures poor and vulnerable people in low income states (especially women) benefit from economic growth by better access to financial services. Under this project Mahashakti offers a range of financial services to poor households and improve their social status and mobility in KBK ( Undivided Kalahandi, Bolangir and Koraput) districts of Odisha.
The main focus is to empower the women in remote rural location and make them self reliant. Mahashakti is currently covering 20 blocks and 187 villages of two districts in Odisha namely Kalahandi and Balangir. Under this project 10 master trainers have been appointed to impart quality training service consequently making 7500 women being trained during the project period. Ideally 30hrs of training is imparted to women on Financial Literacy, entitlement and women empowerment issues, spread over a fairly long period i.e up to one year to ensure good retention and change in behavior pattern.
