Sakhi project was initiated during March 2015 on the occasion of International women’s day to enhance the outreach and quality of Self Help Groups by organizing women and conducting different capacity building programmes for income generation. The project mainly focuses on up scaling SHG movement through SHG resource centre.
Mahashakti Foundation joined hands with Vedanta Ltd. to empower tribal women in 40 selected villages of Lanjigarh, Muniguda blocks of Kalahandi and Rayagada districts in Odisha.
The women are now engaged in different income generating activities such as vegetable cultivation, goatery ,dairy, poultry, dry food processing, leaf plate making, brick, bamboo product making, seasonal fruits marketing etc.
The project SAKHI is involved in following activities :
Village survey, New SHG formation and regularized irregular SHGs, SHG gradation and assessment, Regularization of irregular SHGs, Bank linkages to SHGs, Saving mobilization at SHGs level, Different Micro Enterprise Activities, Providing solar micro grid facility
